Taron Egerton is setting the record straight — he’s not shaken, stirred, or even remotely interested in being the next James Bond.
The Kingsman star, long rumored to be in the running to replace Daniel Craig, has humbly shut down speculation, saying he’s just not the right fit for the iconic 007 role.
“I don’t think I’m a good choice for it. I think I’m too messy for that,” the 35-year-old actor told Collider.
“I really love James Bond, especially Daniel Craig’s version. But I think I wouldn’t be good at it. There are so many cool, younger actors who would be great for it. I think it would be wasted on me, probably.”
“Bond Is a Beast of a Commitment”
Egerton, known for balancing blockbuster action (Kingsman, Rocketman) with grounded, character-driven roles, admits that the commitment required for Bond might not align with where he is creatively.
“Bond is quite an undertaking. It kind of consumes your life,” he explained.
“That’s not to say I don’t have aspirations or wouldn’t want to do something more commercial — of course I would. But I’ve been following things that speak to me creatively a bit more lately.”
And just in case fans were still holding out hope, Egerton made one thing clear: no one from Bond HQ has come calling.
“As far as I’m aware, nobody’s asking me to do it.”

While Egerton is ruling himself out, Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney is reportedly being lined up to bring some new firepower to the Bond franchise.
Sources say 27-year-old Sweeney has caught the eye of Dune director Denis Villeneuve, who’s rumored to be taking over the next 007 installment under Amazon’s watch.
“Sydney is the top name on the casting sheet,” a source told The Sun on Sunday.
“Denis believes she is hugely talented and appeals to younger generations — vital for modernizing the franchise. She’s athletic, can do action scenes, and has that classic Bond girl glamour.”
While the next James Bond remains a mystery, it’s clear that Taron Egerton has his sights set elsewhere — and he’s more than fine leaving the martinis and MI6 behind.
