The woman accused of unleashing a hail of gunfire on Rihanna’s Beverly Hills mansion has been officially identified, as new details emerge about the terrifying daylight attack. Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, a 35-year-old Florida resident, now faces attempted murder charges after prosecutors determined there was probable cause for the felony count. The AR-15 style rifle attack on Sunday afternoon sent the singer and her family scrambling for safety, with one bullet actually penetrating the wall of the home where Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and their three young children live.
Law enforcement officials have publicly named Ortiz as the woman who allegedly parked a white Tesla across from the colonial-style mansion and opened fire just after 1:15 p.m. on Sunday. The 35-year-old Orlando resident was taken into custody approximately 30 minutes later in the parking lot of the Sherman Oaks Galleria, roughly eight miles from the scene. Officers recovered an assault-style rifle from her vehicle, along with seven spent casings matching the gunfire at the property.
Ortiz remains in custody with bail set at $10.225 million, a figure that reflects the seriousness of the charges and the perceived threat she poses. The LAPD’s elite Robbery-Homicide Division has taken over the investigation, a move reserved for the most high-profile and complex cases.
The assault unfolded in a quiet, upscale neighborhood typically known for privacy and security. According to LAPD radio dispatch audio, approximately ten rounds were fired from the vehicle parked across the street from Rihanna’s home. Neighbors described the sound as unmistakable and terrifying.
“It was bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, like probably ten shots,” one neighbor recalled. “It was scary, but you know, I can’t imagine being in the house because you’re hearing the bullets hitting. I have no idea what it could have been, although I know it was just jarring, very jarring in the middle of a nice Sunday afternoon.”
Investigators confirmed that multiple rounds struck the property’s front gate, with at least one bullet penetrating a wall of the residence itself. A recreational vehicle parked on the property was also hit. Remarkably, no one was injured.
Multiple law enforcement sources have confirmed that Rihanna was home at the time of the shooting. The 38-year-old singer, who shares three children, RZA, 3, Riot, 2, and five-month-old Rocki, with partner A$AP Rocky, was inside when the bullets began flying. It remains unclear whether Rocky or the children were present during the attack.
The confirmation that Rihanna was home elevates the severity of the incident significantly. What could have been a property crime became a direct threat to life, hence the attempted murder charges now facing Ortiz.
The suspect’s white Tesla, described as having paper plates and being “dirty on the bottom,” fled south on Coldwater Canyon Drive after the shooting. But her escape was short-lived. An LAPD helicopter spotted the vehicle and tracked it to the Sherman Oaks shopping center, where officers were waiting.
“When they pulled her over and took her into custody, they searched the vehicle and located an assault rifle and seven casings,” LAPD spokesperson Armen Arias said. The swift arrest prevented any further violence and allowed investigators to begin piecing together a motive.
LAPD Capt. Mike Bland confirmed at the scene that the weapon recovered was an AR-15-style rifle, a high-powered firearm capable of inflicting mass casualties. Why Ortiz allegedly chose to use it against Rihanna’s home remains unknown.
Authorities have not established any connection between Ortiz and the singer or her family. Investigators are looking into the possibility that Ortiz flew across the country from Florida specifically to carry out the attack. The presence of paper plates on the Tesla suggests the vehicle may have been recently acquired, potentially for this purpose.
The lack of an obvious connection deepens the mystery surrounding the case. Was this a random act of violence? Was Ortiz suffering from mental health issues? Did she have an obsession with the star? These are the questions investigators are now working to answer.
This is not the first time Rihanna has faced a security threat at her home. In 2018, a man named Eduardo Leon jumped a fence and broke into a different Rihanna property in the Hollywood Hills, remaining inside for approximately 12 hours before being discovered. Leon later pleaded no contest to stalking charges and was placed on probation.
That incident, while deeply unsettling, involved no weapons and occurred while Rihanna was away. Sunday’s attack represents a dramatic escalation, an armed assault in broad daylight with the star inside.
The shooting also carries uncomfortable echoes of A$AP Rocky’s recent legal troubles. In February 2025, a jury acquitted the rapper of charges that he fired a gun at a former friend during a 2021 dispute. The case drew massive media attention, with Rihanna present in the courtroom when the not-guilty verdict was read.
Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, has maintained his innocence throughout. The acquittal cleared his name, but the association with firearms lingers, now in a vastly different context, with his own family as the potential targets.
Ortiz remains in custody as the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office prepares to formally pursue the attempted murder case. Her next court appearance will determine whether bail conditions change and whether additional charges may be filed.
For Rihanna and her family, the immediate danger has passed, but the psychological impact of such an attack is profound. A source close to the couple told The New York Post that they “don’t know much” and were left in the dark about what happened or why. That uncertainty, not knowing if they were specifically targeted or randomly chosen, may be the hardest part to process.
The singer has not made any public statements since the incident. Neither has Rocky. For now, they are focused on their children and their safety, while the LAPD works to uncover the truth behind one of the most brazen celebrity home attacks in recent memory.
