Nigerian rapper Remilekun Abdulkhalid Safaru, popularly known as Reminisce, has likened fame to a hard drug, calling it highly intoxicating during a recent interview with Naija FM in Lagos.
The ‘Alaga Ibile’ hitmaker explained how the allure of fame can consume individuals and how it has affected him personally.
“Fame is a hard drug. It’s very intoxicating,” Reminisce stated, emphasizing the strong grip it can have on celebrities.
When asked about how he manages to cope with fame, Reminisce shared that he approaches his relationships with a business mindset, treating people as colleagues rather than friends. This, he says, helps him stay grounded and avoid unrealistic expectations from others.
He added, “I work with the mindset that nobody is my friend. I see people as colleagues and not friends,” highlighting how this approach prevents him from getting disappointed or expecting too much from those around him.
