The Straw Hat Pirates are officially setting sail for another voyage. Netflix has confirmed that Season 3 of its beloved live-action adaptation of One Piece is currently in development, bringing with it a wave of exciting new casting announcements. The series, which has become a rare success story for anime adaptations, will continue following Monkey D. Luffy and his crew as they navigate the treacherous waters of the Grand Line.

Four new actors have boarded the ship for the upcoming season, each stepping into roles that will significantly expand the world of the series. Cole Escola, the comedic genius behind The Drew Barrymore Show and Difficult People, has been cast in a currently undisclosed role, sparking speculation about which of Eiichiro Oda’s eccentric characters they might bring to life.

Xolo Mariduena, fresh off his starring turn as Blue Beetle in the DC Universe and his breakout role in Cobra Kai, joins the cast in what insiders describe as a pivotal character for the upcoming arc. His action experience and youth make him a natural fit for the physically demanding world of One Piece.

Sudanese comedian and internet sensation Awdo Awdo has also signed on, bringing his distinctive energy to the series. The social media star, known for his viral sketches and magnetic screen presence, represents a wildcard addition that suggests the show’s willingness to take risks with its casting.

Returning for the season is Daisy Head, who will reprise her role as the mysterious and dangerous Miss Valentine. Head’s character was a standout in the Alabasta arc, and her return promises more conflict with the Straw Hats as the saga continues.

Fans eager to return to the Grand Line will need patience. According to production insiders, One Piece Season 3 is expected to debut sometime between late 2027 and early 2028. The extended timeline reflects both the massive scale of the production and the network’s commitment to getting the adaptation right after the first two seasons earned widespread acclaim.

The long wait isn’t surprising given the complexity of bringing Oda’s world to life. From elaborate ship sets to extensive CGI work for Devil Fruit powers and exotic locations, each episode requires months of preparation and execution. The showrunners have made clear they’d rather take their time than rush a subpar product.

The renewal comes as no surprise to anyone watching Netflix’s metrics. The first season of One Piece debuted at #1 in 84 countries and spent weeks in the streamer’s global Top 10. More importantly, it won over die-hard fans of the manga and anime, a notoriously difficult audience to please.

Season 2, which is currently in post-production, will adapt the Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, and Whiskey Peak arcs before diving into the fan-favorite Drum Island storyline. That season is expected to premiere sometime in 2026, setting the stage for Season 3’s deeper exploration of the Alabasta saga.

With Season 3 now officially in the works, speculation is already running rampant about which arcs the show will tackle. The Alabasta conflict, one of the manga’s most beloved storylines, looms large on the horizon. The addition of characters like Miss Valentine suggests the show is carefully building toward that epic confrontation.

For now, fans have years of waiting ahead. But if the first two seasons proved anything, it’s that this adaptation is worth the patience. The Grand Line isn’t going anywhere, and neither are the Straw Hats.
