American singer-songwriter Kehlani Ashley Parrish, widely known as “Kehlani,” has candidly shared how her support for Palestine has led to the loss of significant opportunities and deals in her career. In a recent interview with ‘The Breakfast Club,’ the artist revealed the challenges she has faced after publicly voicing her stance.
“I’ve experienced a lot of pushback,” Kehlani admitted. “I’ve lost a lot—things that were promised and set up for this rollout and album to happen, supposed to be a lot of ‘firsts’…magazines, brand deals, and opportunities that we’re sad to lose. But at the end of the day, I don’t regret it. I can sleep at night knowing that I’m aligned with what I believe in as an artist.”
Kehlani’s outspoken support for Palestine first came to light on May 29th, when she expressed her solidarity in an Instagram post. Just days later, on May 31st, she featured the Palestinian flag in her music video for ‘Next 2 U.’
Her advocacy has not been in vain, as Kehlani’s efforts contributed to raising $500,000 for the people of Gaza, Congo, and Sudan. Despite the setbacks, the singer remains steadfast in her commitment to using her platform to support causes she believes in, even at the cost of personal and professional losses.
