Vice President Kamala Harris expressed her gratitude for Taylor Swift’s endorsement ahead of the upcoming election, acknowledging the singer’s support during an exclusive interview with WIRED as part of their “Answers The Web’s Most Searched Questions” video feature.
Speaking highly of the Anti-Hero hitmaker, Harris said, “She’s an incredible artist. I really respect the courage that she has had in her career to stand up for what she believes is right.” The VP further expressed pride in Swift’s backing, which has bolstered her election campaign.
On a lighter note, Harris joked about their differing football loyalties, referencing Swift’s support of boyfriend Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs. “But we were on different sides of the Super Bowl last year. I am a [San Francisco] 49ers fan, but who’s mad at anyone for being loyal to their team, right?” Harris added.
Swift’s endorsement came via a heartwarming Instagram post, where she encouraged her fans to vote, describing Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader.” The Grammy Award-winning singer emphasized the need for calm leadership, writing, “I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
This isn’t Swift’s first foray into political endorsements. Previously, her support for Joe Biden drove record-breaking numbers to voter registration platforms, cementing her influence in American politics.
