Jason Momoa revealed on the August 11 “Smartless” podcast that he nearly drowned 18 years ago while surfing at Maui’s Jaws break. His leg rope snapped seven miles into a 13-mile paddle in 2007, leaving him stranded in 10-foot waves. Surf legend Laird Hamilton rescued Momoa during the harrowing incident. The “Aquaman” star said he was praying to ancestors and believed he had died. The experience occurred in rough waters off the Hawaiian coast.
