Hannah Waddingham Gets Candid on Impostor Syndrome, Motherhood, and Why She’s Picky About Love

Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham may light up every red carpet she walks, but behind the glam, she’s grappling with something many wouldn’t expect — impostor syndrome.

“I’m Not Endlessly Confident — I Just Style It Out”

In a revealing interview with The Sunday Times, the Emmy-winning actress admitted that despite decades of success on the stage and screen, she constantly feels like she’s faking it.

“I have massive impostor syndrome all the time,” she confessed. “People shouldn’t think that I’m endlessly confident because I’m absolutely not. I’m just good at styling it out.”

Even glamorous events like Cannes leave her second-guessing herself.

“Walking up plenty of stairs in the gown is a bit like, ‘Don’t be the w***** who falls!’ That’s a lot of pink taffeta up in the air…”

From “Infertile” to Motherhood Joy

Waddingham’s personal life has its own remarkable twist. After being told she couldn’t have children, she turned to Eastern medicine, and to her surprise, conceived naturally.

“Thank God she is the utter joy of my life,” she said of her now 10-year-old daughter. “But it is unyielding responsibility. More people should talk about how exhausting it is. Not only physically showing up for them, but being the best version of yourself.”

Her daughter has since become her greatest motivation — and her biggest grounding force.

Single, but Selective: “Glass-Half-Empty” People Need Not Apply

While she’s currently single, Hannah is in no rush to jump into a relationship. Why? She simply has zero patience for pessimism.

“I’m quite picky unless someone is sensational. I can’t have people in my life whose default setting is glass half empty. I just find it exhausting — because I am absolutely the opposite.”

From Mission: Impossible to Ted Lasso, Waddingham is known for commanding the screen, but it’s her unfiltered honesty off-screen that’s winning hearts. Whether she’s facing red carpet jitters, parenting exhaustion, or shielding her space from negative energy, one thing’s clear — Hannah Waddingham is very much the real deal.
