Nigerian TV host Frank Edoho has shed light on the ongoing financial battle between gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her former label, Eezee Conceptz.

Speaking in a recent interview on TVC, Edoho revealed that Chinwo allegedly stopped receiving show bookings from the label after refusing to renew her contract.

Allegations of Unpaid Royalties and Fraudulent Contracts

Edoho claimed that Mercy Chinwo wasn’t receiving the full proceeds from her digital music sales and royalties. According to him, Chinwo’s team conducted an independent audit and found discrepancies in payments from major distribution companies such as AfriCori, Skiza, and Symphonic.

One of the biggest revelations was that AfriCori allegedly paid $800,000 in revenue for the period between 2020 and 2023, but Chinwo only received $90,000 from her label.

Additionally, Edoho noted that:

None of Chinwo’s songs are on her personal YouTube channel—they are all controlled by the label.

• When Chinwo’s team demanded financial transparency, the label allegedly refused to cooperate.

• Her contract was secretly replaced with a different version without her consent.

Label Retaliation After Contract Dispute

According to Edoho, Chinwo declined a 12-year contract extension, after which Eezee Conceptz allegedly stopped booking her for shows.

The matter escalated to Nigeria’s EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission), which ordered the label to pay Chinwo some of her owed earnings. However, Edoho claims that the label’s CEO, Eezee Tee, still owes money from the period under review.

Legal Battle and Label’s Response

Eezee Tee was arraigned over allegations of money laundering and dishonest conversion of fundsfrom Mercy Chinwo’s digital revenue and performances. He is accused of laundering $340,000 from her earnings.

Despite these allegations, Eezee Tee has denied any wrongdoing, dismissing the accusations as “lies from the pit of hell.”

The case is currently ongoing, with the Federal High Court in Lagos adjourning the next hearing to May 14.

What’s Next for Mercy Chinwo?

Chinwo, one of Nigeria’s biggest gospel stars, continues to thrive independently. However, this legal battle has sparked conversations about artists’ rights and financial transparency in the Nigerian music industry.
