Nigerian singer Fireboy DML recently expressed his admiration for his colleague and YBNL label mate, Asake, highlighting his talent and unmatched energy. Reflecting on their hit 2022 collaboration “Bandana,” Fireboy shared that Asake recorded his verse in a tour bus, demonstrating his dedication and spontaneous talent.
In an interview with Ebro, Fireboy revealed that their synergy on “Bandana” stemmed from their long-standing friendship and shared experiences. The two artists, both alumni of Obafemi Awolowo University, have a history of working together since their undergraduate days.
“Our record label boss, Olamide, advised me to feature Asake on ‘Bandana.’ We sent it to him, and he recorded it quickly on his tour bus. The energy was insane,” Fireboy explained.
Describing Asake as a “born star” with a “crazy personality,” Fireboy noted their connection through similar struggles and journeys, making the collaboration even more authentic and powerful.
