Domestic Violence Charges Dropped Against Jairzinho Rozenstruik

Dirty Boxing heavyweight champion Jairzinho Rozenstruik can breathe easier. Prosecutors have officially dropped domestic violence charges against the former UFC fighter, closing a case that began with his January arrest in Pembroke Pines, Florida.

Court records obtained by multiple outlets confirm the state filed its decision earlier this month, formally ending the legal proceedings against the 37-year-old combat sports star. The dismissal follows months of uncertainty about his legal future and fighting career.

The Broward County State Attorney’s office cited a clear reason for dropping the case: the alleged victim refused to provide a sworn statement. Without her cooperation, prosecutors concluded there was “no reasonable likelihood of conviction.”

According to court documents, investigators determined the “parties were engaged in mutual combat and provided conflicting accounts of the incident.” The dueling narratives made it impossible to establish what happened beyond a reasonable doubt.

That mutual combat designation proved crucial. When both parties actively participate in a physical altercation, determining a single aggressor becomes legally complicated, especially when neither will cooperate with prosecution.

The January arrest followed a domestic disturbance call in Pembroke Pines. Officers arrived to find Rozenstruik and his partner in the middle of a blowout argument following a trip from their storage unit.

According to the initial police report, the woman claimed Rozenstruik slapped her hand, causing her cell phone to fall to the car floor. She said when she tried to exit the vehicle, he grabbed her arm to prevent her from leaving. She told officers she then punched him multiple times in self-defense.

The situation escalated further when she declined his attempt to kiss her, calling him a “nasty beast.” Rozenstruik allegedly then bit her right bicep.

Officers documented visible injuries including a bite mark on her bicep, redness on both forearms, and a scratch-bruise mark under her right eye. Based on those observations and her statements, they determined probable cause existed to arrest Rozenstruik as the primary aggressor.

Body camera footage reportedly captured Rozenstruik’s reaction when police arrived. The fighter was “uncooperative,” according to the report, and told officers they had “figured it out” and didn’t need law enforcement involved.

That response aligns with the eventual outcome. From the beginning, Rozenstruik maintained the situation was private and didn’t require police intervention. His position proved prescient once the victim declined to pursue charges.

Rozenstruik recently transitioned from the UFC to Dirty Boxing, a new promotion blending boxing with MMA elements. He won the promotion’s first heavyweight championship in his debut appearance, defeating Ante Delija via first-round knockout in December 2025.

The dropped charges remove a significant legal distraction as he builds momentum in his new fighting home. Dirty Boxing has not issued any statement about the case or Rozenstruik’s status with the promotion, but the legal resolution clears the path for continued competition.

Domestic violence cases frequently face dismissal when victims decline to cooperate. Prosecutors rely on victim testimony to establish elements of crimes like battery, especially when both parties claim self-defense. Without that cooperation, even documented injuries may not sustain a conviction beyond reasonable doubt.

The conflicting accounts presented here, each party blaming the other for physical contact, created exactly the kind of evidentiary problem prosecutors try to avoid. When both sides have credibility issues and neither will testify, the case collapses.

Rozenstruik has not commented publicly since the charges were dropped. His legal team presumably advised against statements that could reignite controversy. For now, the fighter moves forward with his record clear and his focus returning to the ring.
