Cardi B is stepping back into the spotlight, louder, bolder, and more unapologetic than ever.

The Grammy-winning rapper has officially announced that her long-awaited second studio album, Am I the Drama?, will be released on September 19, 2025. Described as a turning point in her life and career, Cardi says the album represents the “death of the old me” and the birth of a fiercer version of herself — one that isn’t here to play nice.

“The humble me is dead,” she declared during a candid X Spaces chat on Friday, June 27. “All of that died last year… I’m reborn again, and this time I ain’t taking s**t from nobody.”

A New Chapter, A New Cardi

Am I the Drama? is Cardi’s first full-length project since her 2018 debut, Invasion of Privacy, which catapulted her to superstardom and won a Grammy for Best Rap Album. But this new album isn’t just about music — it’s a personal manifesto.

Cardi explained that the album’s title speaks for itself. “It’s very obvious. I’m a fking topic,” she said. “Whether I’m asleep, talking, or opening my mouth, it’s drama. I was voted most dramatic in high school. It just makes fking sense.”

Real Life Fueled the Music

Much of the emotional weight behind the album comes from the intense changes in Cardi’s life over the past year. In 2024, she filed for divorce from Offset, announced her third pregnancy, and gave birth to her daughter Blossom in September — all while trying to ignore constant online noise and criticism.

“I feel like something died in me,” she shared. “Being the bigger person, letting people breathe — that version of me is gone.”

The album artwork reflects that transformation. Shot in 2024, it shows Cardi surrounded by crows and stormy skies — a visual metaphor for grief, rebirth, and resilience. “It represents loss, but it also represents strength,” she explained.

Total Creative Control

Cardi made it clear she’s the one steering the ship. “Nobody can pick how I want to represent myself,” she said, rejecting pressure from label execs and fans. Just like she chose Invasion of Privacy to reflect the chaos of new fame and motherhood, she chose Am I the Drama? to confront the controversies that continue to follow her.

She also dismissed critics who accuse her of relying on gimmicks. “This is a big, big project,” she emphasized. “This is not for play-play.”

Embracing the Fire

With Am I the Drama?, Cardi B isn’t running from headlines — she’s owning them. The Bronx native has always thrived in chaos, but now she’s wielding it with intention, using her life experiences to fuel her art instead of silence it.

“I’m still relevant for a reason,” she said. “I’m gonna give you that. I’m gonna shut it down.”

Get ready — Cardi B is back, and this time, she’s the drama on purpose. Am I the Drama? drops September 19.
