Nigerian artist Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, popularly known as Blackface, has announced his plans to revive the iconic music group Plantashun Boiz in 2024. Speaking during an interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, Blackface revealed that he is currently working on a new song while reflecting on the history of the group.

Blackface recalled how the group began with himself and 2Baba, before later adding Faze, despite initial resistance from 2Baba. He emphasized his role in forming the group, stating,

“I am the head of Plantashun Boiz, not TuBaba. I brought 2Baba to Plantashun Boiz.”

The group, known for its influence on the Nigerian music scene in the early 2000s, disbanded amid internal disputes. Blackface also mentioned creating the group’s name during his time farming, a nod to his rural beginnings.

Fans and critics alike have shared mixed reactions to his statements and plans:

@i_am_kingvictor:“Even Daddy Freeze tire for Blackface. Just hear wetin baba dey talk.”

@eff4th:“Once Daddy Freeze say ‘hmmm,’ just know say you dey talk nonsense.”

@queen.die:“Blackface will rise again someday.”

Despite the skepticism, Blackface seems determined to bring back Plantashun Boiz in his own way. Whether his plans materialize or not, his announcement has certainly reignited conversations about the group’s legacy in Nigerian music.
