Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has finally offered his congratulations to Rodri, the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner. Rodri clinched the prestigious award over Real Madrid’s own star, Vinicius Junior—a result that didn’t sit well with the Los Blancos camp.
Ancelotti, Vinicius, and the rest of the Real Madrid squad chose to skip the award ceremony in Paris, a clear sign of their disappointment. However, when speaking to the press ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League match against AC Milan, Ancelotti made it clear that, for him, the Ballon d’Or is “the past.”
“Congrats to who won the Ballon d’Or,” Ancelotti remarked, “but it’s the past. We won our Ballon d’Or on June 1st,” referencing Real Madrid’s own victories as their true crowning achievements.
With this, Ancelotti reminds fans that Real Madrid’s success is measured in trophies, not individual accolades!
