It’s official: Tom Felton is returning to the Wizarding World as Draco Malfoy — and this time, he’s doing it live on stage.
The Harry Potter film star is set to make his Broadway debut in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, reprising his iconic role for the first time since 2011’s Deathly Hallows: Part Two. Felton will join the cast at the Lyric Theatre beginning November 11, 2025, and perform through March 22, 2026, becoming the first actor from the original movie franchise to star in the stage production.
“A Full-Circle Moment”
Felton, 37, called the opportunity “a full-circle moment”, noting that he’ll be the same age Draco is in the play, which is set 19 years after the events of Deathly Hallows.
“It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes — and of course, his iconic platinum blond hair,” Felton shared. “I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world.”
Felton also admitted to getting emotional when donning Draco’s signature wig again:
“When they put my blonde wig on for the theatre production, I just immediately cried. It was just sort of like a blast from the past.”
A New Side of Draco
Although he grew up playing the troubled Slytherin student, Felton says this version of Draco is uncharted territory for him:
“Now we’re no longer children. We actually are the parents… I know him quite well as a kid. I don’t know him that well as an adult. So that’s the exciting challenge ahead for me.”
In Cursed Child, Draco Malfoy is portrayed as a father navigating complex relationships and old rivalries, especially as his son, Scorpius, forges a bond with Harry Potter’s son, Albus.
Producers Celebrate a “Cultural Moment”
The show’s producers, Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, called Felton’s casting a powerful return that “bridges generations of fans.”
“Tom’s return to Hogwarts breathes new life into a beloved story,” they said. “It’s not lost on us that this is a cultural moment charged with nostalgia, evolution, and emotion.”
