Patrick Schwarzenegger is no stranger to wild fan encounters, but his latest story might just top them all — he says viewers actually started sending him money on Venmo while watching his performance on The White Lotus.
The 31-year-old actor opened up about the bizarre experience during an interview with People, while promoting his new campaign with Venmo alongside co-star Aimee Lou Wood. The duo is currently teaming up with the brand to launch its debit card and new checkout features — but clearly, fans were already ahead of the game when it came to sending Patrick money.
“I don’t know if this ever happened to you, Aimee — I sent it in our group text from White Lotus — but I have people that sent me money on Venmo during episodes of White Lotus.
It was really strange,” Patrick said with a laugh.
“I sent it all back, don’t worry. But I did. I got a lot of people that sent me money.”
Aimee’s Coconut Obsession in Thailand
While Aimee, 31, didn’t get showered with digital cash, she did share her own “weird” memory from filming the hit HBO series in Thailand — namely, her chronic coconut addiction.
“It was chronic,” she said. “I could not stop with the coconuts. I just absolutely loved them! I was so hydrated. I think I was overly hydrated, actually.”
The actors spent seven months shooting in Thailand and clearly developed a strong bond on and off set.
Reuniting for Venmo — and Beyond
Their new Venmo campaign couldn’t have come at a better time. According to Patrick, the opportunity came just days after they were discussing a possible reunion.
“We immediately texted each other,” he said. “We were both so excited to be able to work with Venmo, but also get to work with each other once again.”
The campaign features a quirky commercial with the duo dancing to the tune of “You Can Venmo This” — and according to both actors, the whole thing was a blast.
Aimee also got candid about how hard it was to say goodbye after filming wrapped.
“Seven months all of us together, in the same place, and then I went back to England and it was so lonely,” she said.
But the two have stayed close — and busy — ever since. Patrick shared that they’ve recently been on quite the work-tour together:
“Aimee and I worked in L.A. together, and then we both flew to New York and we worked on the same shoot, and then the next day we got to do the Met Ball together.
Then the next day we both flew to London for a week and worked together. And then I stayed for a couple of days and had some extra days off and we got to hang.”
From digital dollars to dancing for Venmo, it’s safe to say Patrick and Aimee are living their best post-White Lotus lives — and fans can’t get enough.
