Cousins Beach is calling one last time. Following the emotional Season 3 finale of the hit Prime Video series, fans have been eagerly awaiting news on the story’s definitive conclusion. We can now confirm that The Summer I Turned Pretty movie filming 2026 is officially set to begin on April 27, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina.
While the third season brought significant closure to the central love triangle, author and showrunner Jenny Han revealed that a feature-length film was necessary to “properly wrap up” Belly’s journey. Production is scheduled to run from late April through June 26, 2026. By choosing a movie format over a fourth season, Han and co-showrunner Sarah Kucserka aim to deliver a high-stakes, cinematic finale that focuses on the “next chapter” of adulthood for the beloved characters.
In a move that will delight “Team Conrad” and “Team Jeremiah” alike, the entire regular cast is expected to return for the finale. This includes:
• Lola Tung as Isabel “Belly” Conklin
• Christopher Briney as Conrad Fisher
• Gavin Casalegno as Jeremiah Fisher
• Sean Kaufman as Steven Conklin
• Rain Spencer as Taylor Jewel
Supporting stars Jackie Chung (Laurel) and Wendell Pierce are also rumored to be returning to provide the parental backbone the series is known for.
Though plot details are being kept under wraps at Cinespace Studios, Jenny Han has hinted that the film will bridge the gap between the Season 3 finale and the “happily ever after” fans of the book trilogy have long anticipated. With the script already finalized, the production will return to iconic locations across Wilmington and Carolina Beach, which serve as the real-world stand-ins for the fictional Cousins Beach.
While a release date has not been officially set, the filming schedule points toward a Spring 2027 premiere, likely timed to coincide with the Valentine’s Day or early summer season.
