The literary world is buzzing with the release of the long-awaited memoir from R&B icon Brandy, titled Phases. While fans are diving into the revelations of the “Vocal Bible,” fellow Moesha star Shar Jackson is making headlines for a different reason. Despite the trend of high-profile tell-alls from those in her inner circle, Jackson is firmly stating that she has no plans to publish a book of her own, confidently asserting that she has the truth on her side.

Jackson recently expressed her genuine excitement to read Phases, which officially hit shelves on March 31, 2026. The memoir covers Brandy’s journey from a Mississippi church singer to a global superstar, including her time on the set of Moesha. Jackson, who played the fan-favorite Niecy Jackson, remains a staunch supporter of her former co-star. However, when asked if she would follow suit and document her own life story, Jackson’s answer was a resounding “no.”

The reluctance to write a memoir comes after a wave of books that touched on Jackson’s personal history. In late 2023, Britney Spears released The Woman in Me, and more recently, Jackson’s ex-partner Kevin Federline released his own memoir, You Thought You Knew. Both books revisited the highly publicized 2004 era when Federline left a then-pregnant Jackson to pursue a relationship with Spears.

While Federline used his platform to issue a public apology for how he handled their breakup, Jackson feels that adding her voice to the crowded shelf is unnecessary. Having lived through the tabloid frenzy of the mid-2000s, she appears content to let the past remain exactly where it is.

For Jackson, the decision is about personal peace rather than a lack of material. She has hinted that because she knows her own reality, she doesn’t feel the need to litigate it in the court of public opinion. By stating she has the truth on her side, Jackson suggests that her integrity is not dependent on a best-seller list. For now, she is happy to remain an avid reader of her friends’ stories while keeping her own chapters closed to the public.
