The mystery of Flight 828 is expanding. Netflix has officially greenlit Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery, a brand-new spinoff series expanding the world of the hit sci-fi drama Manifest. The announcement fittingly dropped on August 28 (8/28 Day), five years after Netflix originally saved the mothership series following its cancellation by NBC.
Unlike a direct continuation or fifth season, Arrivals will introduce an entirely new ensemble of characters and an uncharted storyline while staying rooted in the overarching mythology of the original series.
The Plot: The spinoff centers on a mysterious plane that crash-lands in Denver. The passengers emerge with no memory of their identities, origin, or how they arrived.
The Protagonists: A young social worker and a novice Homeland Security agent team up with the passengers to stop a impending global catastrophe, discovering they are key pieces of the puzzle.
Original Creative Team Returns: Creator Jeff Rake returns alongside co-executive producers Margaret Easley and Laura Putney, who will serve as co-creators and co-showrunners to ensure creative continuity.
Since finding its home on Netflix, Manifest has accumulated over 130 million views worldwide across its four seasons. Arrivals aims to deliver the same conversation-starting mystery for both long-time fans and a fresh generation of viewers.
