After a remarkable career spanning more than five decades, veteran actor Ernest Harden Jr. is officially an Emmy winner.
The 73-year-old actor took home the award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards for his standout performance in The Pitt.
The Competition: Harden triumphed in a stacked category, beating out fellow The Pitt guest actor Jeff Kober, Colman Domingo (Euphoria), Jeff Hiller (Pluribus), Jonathan Pryce (Slow Horses), and Bradley Whitford (The Diplomat).
An Emotional Acceptance: An overwhelmed Harden admitted backstage that he was “on cloud 25,” expressing sheer gratitude for the milestone achievement after decades of hard work in the industry.
Harden won critical acclaim and widespread fan love for his portrayal of Louie Cloverfield, a “frequent flyer” emergency room patient struggling with alcoholism whose deepening connection with the hospital staff forms an emotional core of the series. During his emotional speech, he also paid a heartfelt tribute to his late White Mama co-star, Bette Davis, declaring, “Bette Davis, we didn’t make it then, but this one is for us!”
