In a candid new interview that has taken social media by storm, Afrobeats heavyweight Davido has revealed a surprising stance on his children’s career path. Speaking on The Breakfast Club on April 19, 2026, the “Unavailable” singer admitted that he would much rather see his children build their futures within his father’s vast corporate network than follow in his footsteps in the entertainment industry.
The 33-year-old superstar cited his own grueling journey to the top as a primary reason for this preference. Despite his current global status, Davido reflected on the significant struggles and lack of initial support he faced when he first defied family expectations to pursue music. “Omo, go and work with my dad,” he stated during the interview, noting that a career within the Adeleke family’s established businesses which span energy, power generation, and logistics would provide a “much easier life” for them.
Davido’s perspective seems deeply influenced by his father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke. The singer shared that watching his father find pure joy in his grandchildren has shifted his own outlook on success. “I could just see that, among all the things he has, including multiple private jets and all that, his happiness is seeing his grandchildren,” Davido remarked. He noted that while his father is a single man with a massive empire, the simplicity of family time during the holidays appears to be the true pinnacle of fulfillment.
Despite his personal preference for corporate stability, the father of five clarified that he would never “kill the joy” of his children if they were adamant about a creative path. He acknowledged that one of his daughters is already displaying a talent for singing and dancing. “I wouldn’t want to do that to my kids as well,” he said, referencing how his father’s initial refusal to support his music nearly broke his spirit until his determination became undeniable. While he points them toward the family office, Davido remains committed to being the supportive parent he eventually found in his own father.
