The Pogues are no strangers to wild water stunts, but one on-set moment turned terrifyingly real. Outer Banks star Chase Stokes revealed that he had to jump in and save co-star Madison Bailey from drowning while filming an intense underwater scene in Barbados.

After treading water for over a minute, Bailey struggled to stay afloat and couldn’t swim back to the boat. Stokes noticed her face had vanished under the surface and realized she couldn’t breathe, leaping off the boat to pull her to safety.
“Everyone thought it was like, ‘Oh, wow, they’re in the scene. This is great.’ I was like, ‘No, she’s drowning. Hey, that’s not acting!'” Chase Stokes
The crew initially mistook the real struggle for high-caliber acting until Stokes called for help. Both actors later admitted underwater sequences were the hardest part of production, though they can now laugh about the dramatic real-life rescue.
