Actor and comedian Bobb’e J. Thompson widely recognized for his childhood roles in hit television shows and films has been handed a 30-month federal prison sentence after pleading guilty to a felony weapons charge.l
The case stems from a high-speed traffic stop that took place in Iowa back in September 2025.
The Speeding Stop: Authorities pulled Thompson over after clocking him driving 104 mph in a 70-mph zone. Officers noted that Thompson and his passenger attempted to switch seats as the patrol vehicle approached.
The Search: Upon searching the vehicle and Thompson’s backpack, law enforcement recovered dispensary-bought marijuana alongside a loaded .40-caliber handgun.
Stolen Firearm: Prosecutors confirmed that the recovered handgun had previously been reported stolen out of Kansas City, Missouri.
After entering a guilty plea in April, Thompson appeared before U.S. District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand in Sioux City, Iowa, to learn his fate.
Prison Time: The actor received a 30-month sentence in federal custody.
Supervised Release: Following his prison term, Thompson will serve a three-year term of supervised release.
