The ongoing legal saga surrounding Nigerian musician Speed Darlington has taken a new turn. According to renowned lawyer and human rights activist Deji Adeyanju, the controversial artist, also known as AKPI, has been moved from Owerri to Abuja and will remain in police custody.

This update follows Darlington’s arrest in Owerri during a performance on November 27, 2024. It was his second arrest in just two months. His first brush with the law occurred on October 4, 2024, after releasing a video mocking Nigerian music star Burna Boy, allegedly linking him to American rapper Diddy, who faces legal troubles over immoral exploitation charges.

Following the first arrest, Darlington’s mother publicly pleaded for her son’s release, expressing concern about his well-being. In a heartfelt video, she called on Nigerians to help, especially since she resides outside the country and fears for her son’s fate.

The case continues to evolve, with Adeyanju recently speaking to Daddy Freeze about the legal nuances, clarifying that defamation is a civil matter, not a criminal one. The public eagerly awaits the next developments in the case.
