Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has expressed frustration over the lack of a formal contract offer from the club, as his current deal approaches expiration at the end of the season. In a candid interview following Liverpool’s dramatic 3-2 win against Southampton, Salah admitted feeling “disappointed” about the ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future.

Salah, who scored twice in the Southampton victory, revealed that despite his desire to remain at Anfield, no concrete discussions have taken place.

It’s almost December, and I haven’t received any offers to stay at the club,” Salah said. “I’m probably more out than in.

With his current deal set to enter its final six months in January, Salah will soon be eligible to negotiate with clubs outside England. Yet, the Egyptian forward reaffirmed his commitment to Liverpool and his determination to compete at the highest level.

I love the fans, and the fans love me,” Salah added. “But in the end, it’s not in my hands. I’m very professional, and I’ll keep giving my best for the team this season.

Challenges in Negotiations

Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, have historically been cautious about extending long-term contracts to players over 30. At 32, Salah remains the club’s highest-paid player, earning between £350,000 and £400,000 weekly, which complicates negotiations further.

Despite this, discussions with Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas, are reportedly ongoing, with both sides showing willingness to reach an agreement. Salah’s importance to the team remains undeniable, highlighted by his consistent performances this season, including 12 goals so far.

Speculation About the Future

Salah’s comments follow Liverpool’s decision to reject a £150 million bid from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad in August 2023. When asked about a potential move to Saudi Arabia if talks with Liverpool fail, Salah declined to comment, saying he is fully focused on the season ahead.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot and the squad now face crucial matches against Real Madrid in the Champions League and Manchester City in the Premier League. Salah remains optimistic about the team’s prospects, saying, “The chemistry in the team is strong under the new manager. Hopefully, we’ll keep winning and achieve something special this season.”

With time ticking down on his contract, all eyes are on Salah and Liverpool as fans hope for a resolution to keep their star forward at Anfield.
