Jim Shull, a retired Disney Imagineer with over three decades of experience at the studio, has sharply criticized the trailer for Disney’s upcoming live-action Snow White. In a post on X, Shull labeled the trailer “unwatchable,” citing its over-reliance on digital effects, particularly for the seven dwarfs, which appear to be entirely computer-generated.
The trailer, which leaked online before its official release, features Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. Shull’s critique echoes growing concerns about the studio’s use of digital-heavy visuals in recent remakes. Comparing it to the direct-to-streaming release of Pinocchio starring Tom Hanks, Shull expressed disappointment with the film’s approach.
With a rumored production budget exceeding $200 million, Snow White faces significant pressure to gross over $600 million to break even. The film has already drawn controversy, including remarks from Zegler about U.S. politics, adding another layer of debate to its release.
Fans and critics alike are now closely watching how the movie performs when it hits theaters.
