Ethan Chidiebere Nwaneri is making waves in the football world as the youngest player to score a Premier League (EPL) goal this season. At just 17 years old, the Nigeria-eligible Arsenal midfielder netted his first-ever goal in a sensational performance during Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest. Coming on for captain Martin Ødegaard in the 82nd minute, Nwaneri wasted no time, scoring just 240 seconds after his introduction with a clinical finish following a perfect pass from Raheem Sterling.

His goal not only sealed the victory for Arsenal but also made history, as Nwaneri became the second youngest player in the club’s history to score in the Premier League—only behind Cesc Fàbregas. In addition to his goal, Nwaneri showed his creativity by setting up two chances and completing 11 passes in his short time on the field, proving he’s a player to watch in the future.

What makes Nwaneri’s achievement even more special is that he’s the only U-18 player to score in the EPL this season, making him a standout young talent. As the football world watches his meteoric rise, Nwaneri’s name is quickly becoming synonymous with the future of the Premier League—and possibly Nigeria’s footballing future too.
