Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, famously known as Basketmouth, has officially debuted in the film industry with his feature film, Ghetto Love Story. Speaking with Saturday Beats, the comedian shared that filmmaking has always been a part of his career aspirations.

In actual fact, it’s been a plan all along. I knew I was going to end up in the movies,When I started comedy, I went to TV, and all along, I knew I was going to end up in movies. I enjoy making movies.

The project, according to Basketmouth, was driven by artistic passion rather than profit. “I didn’t do this movie to make money but to create art and excellence,” he said. However, he expressed hope that the film would recoup its costs, especially after facing a 20% spike in production expenses due to market volatility.

Despite the challenges, Basketmouth was unwavering in his commitment to high-quality storytelling. “I’d rather challenge myself to create something exceptional,” he emphasized.

While Ghetto Love Story marks a new chapter in his career, Basketmouth assured fans that comedy remains his primary focus. He announced plans for major tours in 2025, including UK and US performances, alongside a show in Nigeria.

With Ghetto Love Story, Basketmouth is proving his versatility, bridging comedy and film while staying true to his roots. Fans can look forward to more creative projects from the multi-talented entertainer.
