Shiloh, the 18-year-old daughter of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has officially changed her name, removing Pitt’s surname. On Monday, August 19, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie was granted the legal change after filing paperwork shortly after her 18th birthday.
Shiloh, who celebrated her milestone birthday on May 27, filed the legal documents on May 30 to drop “Pitt” from her name. Although the reasons behind her decision remain private, the process required Shiloh to publish a legal notice in the Los Angeles Times, as mandated by California law. This law stipulates that anyone seeking a name change must publicly announce their intention in a newspaper for at least four consecutive weeks before the court date to avoid delays.
Shiloh’s name change comes eight years after Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016. Although the couple was declared legally single in 2019, their divorce has not yet been finalized. Jolie and Pitt share five other children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.
The former couple has faced ongoing legal battles over the years, not only concerning custody of their children but also over shared business ventures, including a French winery.
Shiloh’s decision marks a significant step in her personal journey, reflecting her own identity amidst her parents’ high-profile separation.
