Travis Barker is sharing an update on his health. A day after posting photos of himself at the hospital with his daughter Alabama Barker and his wife, Kourtney Kardashian, the Blink-182 drummer revealed he had undergone surgery. In an Instagram Story post on Wednesday, October 7, Barker explained that his arm, hand, and fingers had been numb since a show he played last month, and that a nerve test on Monday confirmed he needed a cubital tunnel release to fix the nerve.
The Travis Barker surgery is a procedure used to treat cubital tunnel syndrome, which occurs when the ulnar nerve at the elbow is pinched, causing numbness in the small and ring fingers. Barker said he wanted to address the issue immediately so he could keep playing drums. “I wanted to get ahead of it and get it over with so that I can keep playing the way I play for a long, long time,” he wrote. “Should be good in a few weeks”.
Barker first raised concern on Tuesday when he shared photos from a hospital bed wearing a gown and surgical cap, with Alabama sitting beside him and Kardashian kissing him. He didn’t explain the reason at the time. His update came alongside a photo of Kardashian smiling at his bedside, prompting him to joke: “Not sure why my wife looks so happy about this”. The drummer has faced multiple health scares over the years, including surviving a 2008 plane crash and undergoing surgery for a torn finger ligament in 2023.
