Pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo is pulling back the curtain on the grueling reality of navigating romance in the public eye. In a candid new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Grammy-winning singer set the record straight once and for all about her current relationship status, firmly stating, “I’m single”.
Over recent months, casual outings and everyday public sightings have frequently catapulted Rodrigo into online tabloid speculation. Addressing how quickly normal interactions get twisted online, she expressed deep frustration over the lack of privacy.
“Relationships are supposed to be something private. I feel like every time I go on a casual date with a guy, there’s a picture of it on the internet, which feels really invasive,” Rodrigo shared with the publication.
She detailed how ordinary moments out with male friends or acquaintances routinely trigger exaggerated internet narratives claiming marriage or serious commitments.
Beyond the endless cycle of internet romance rumors, Rodrigo opened up about the darker side of constant surveillance. Describing experiences of being stalked outside her home and having candid photos weaponized by internet critics, she admitted that the environment can feel “so hard and kind of sad”.
“I don’t have a boyfriend, and to be stalked outside of your home and then these pictures are being used as evidence that you’re a bad person, it’s just the craziest thing,” she added. “I wish that I could be 23 years old and experience life normally”.
Despite the intense scrutiny, Rodrigo continues to channel her focus into her music and creative projects, prioritizing her peace and personal boundaries while refusing to let the public narrative dictate who she is.
