Kalem Peter Kazarian, a contractor who appeared as a guest on the HGTV show Go Big or Go Home, has died while hiking one of California’s most notorious mountains. He was 52. Kazarian died in Sequoia National Park earlier this week, and local reports say he was hiking Mount Whitney when he passed. The Tulare County Coroner’s Office has not yet revealed a cause of death.
The Kalem Peter Kazarian dead news marks the loss of an avid climber. He recently posted a photo of himself at the top of White Mountain, a 14,252-foot peak. Mount Whitney’s summit stands at 14,505 feet, making it the highest peak in the contiguous United States. Hikers must obtain permits before attempting the climb, and people regularly die trying to complete the grueling trek. This time of year is generally considered the best window for scaling Mount Whitney.
Kazarian appeared on one episode of Go Big or Go Home in 2019 and worked as a contractor in Fresno. The show, which aired on HGTV, featured homeowners taking on ambitious renovation projects with a limited budget. He did not appear as a regular cast member. Tributes from friends and colleagues in the Fresno area began circulating after news of his death. He is survived by his family.
