A routine night of work turned into an unthinkable tragedy in downtown San Francisco, where 47-year-old security guard Ulysses Tykee Davis affectionately known to loved ones as “Bear” was fatally shot while on duty. The incident occurred early Saturday morning outside of San Francisco’s historic Warfield Theatre following a live stage production of the reality television series Baddies.
According to family members and witnesses, Davis was assisting in escorting a disruptive, rowdy individual out of the premises around 1 a.m. As he managed the situation outside the venue near Market and Taylor streets, the suspect allegedly fired a weapon, striking Davis in the back.
Tragically, Davis’s wife and two of his children were present and witnessed the horrific shooting unfold. Emergency responders rushed to the scene to provide medical aid before transporting him to a hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his life-threatening injuries.
Loved ones remember Davis as a deeply protective, kind-hearted family man who was always willing to lend a helping hand and give the shirt off his back to those around him. As local police and city officials actively investigate the shooting—including examining venue permitting and security protocols for the evening’s crowded event—community members, colleagues, and friends continue to demand justice and honor the memory of a hardworking father who lost his life simply doing his job.
