Jensen Ackles has reportedly been cast in the DCU in an unknown role, according to insider DanielRPK. The Supernatural and The Boys star recently started following DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn on Instagram, fueling speculation that he may finally be landing the live-action Batman role fans have campaigned for over the years.
Ackles has voiced Batman in multiple animated DC projects, including Batman: The Long Halloween and the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy. He has openly expressed interest in playing the character in live-action, calling it “certainly a dream role”. He previously came close to playing the Caped Crusader in The CW’s Gotham Knights before the role never came together.
Gunn has consistently denied rumors that the DCU’s Batman has been cast, most recently responding to speculation with “De and bunked”. The DCU Batman is expected to debut in The Brave and the Bold, which remains in early development with no release date set. DC Studios has not confirmed Ackles’ casting or the role he would play.
