Heidi Klum made good on a seven-year-old promise. The supermodel, 53, surprised her eldest son Henry with a red Ferrari F430 for his 21st birthday on Saturday, September 12. The Heidi Klum Ferrari gift came after Henry won a Mario Kart bet against his stepfather, Tom Kaulitz, years ago. In an Instagram video capturing the moment, Henry walks outside with Kaulitz before spotting the car in the driveway.
“Oh, my God! Jesus Christ. I don’t even know what to say,”he exclaimed as Klum filmed his reaction. The wager dated back roughly seven years. In throwback footage Klum shared, a teenage Henry explained the stakes: if he lost, he couldn’t play video games for three months and had to paint a picture of himself driving. But if he won, Kaulitz had to buy him a Ferrari when he turned 21. Henry won. Kaulitz purchased the car at an auto show in Arizona for $152,000, hiding it in the garage for a full year before the big reveal.
In the Netflix docuseries Kaulitz & Kaulitz, the Tokio Hotel guitarist explained why he agreed to such an expensive bet. “I wanted to be the cool stepdad in front of Heidi, who also brings a little something to the table,” he said. “If I have to get a Ferrari anyway, then at least I can drive it for a year myself”. Klum and Kaulitz married in 2019, making him stepfather to her four children with ex-husband Seal: Leni, 22, Henry, 21, Johan, 19, and Lou, 16.
