Tyler Herro Fires Back at Ex’s Claim He Needs ‘Safeguards’ on Custody

NBA star Tyler Herro is fighting back against his ex-girlfriend Katya Henry’s request for “safeguards” on his time with their two children. In new legal documents, the Milwaukee Bucks shooting guard denied Henry’s assertion that special provisions are needed to ensure their children’s safety and well-being, essentially saying her characterization of his conduct was baseless. Henry had cited Herro’s “historical conduct” in her custody petition without elaborating, saying she “intentionally omitted” the details out of respect for him.

Herro’s response outlined a different picture. He stated that from their children’s birth to March 2025, he and Henry lived together with the kids in his Miami mansion. Since she moved out, he said he has enjoyed overnight stays with the children. The NBA star proposed either equal shared time with the kids or that he be awarded the majority of custody, adding that he has supported the children since birth and is not behind on any payments.

Court records reveal that Henry and the children moved out of Herro’s Miami residence in February 2025, roughly 18 months before the custody dispute became public. Both parents filed petitions on August 20, 2026, concerning custody, a parenting plan, and financial support. Herro dismissed his case less than a week later, while Henry continued pursuing hers. Henry, who described herself as the children’s primary caregiver, is seeking primary custody and court-ordered child support, citing the significant income disparity between them. The case remains ongoing.
