Kodak Black just caught a break in one of his criminal cases. A Broward County judge dismissed charges of fleeing and eluding law enforcement along with resisting arrest without violence during a traffic stop earlier this year.
The ruling came Tuesday after the judge determined prosecutors produced no evidence supporting the claim that the rapper tried to elude officers. All charges were dismissed and the case was closed.
The incident dates back to February when a Broward Sheriff’s deputy pulled up behind Kodak’s Jeep Grand Cherokee in Pompano Beach. The deputy called out, “What’s going on boss? You good?” Kodak responded, “fine” and drove away.
According to court documents, the deputy never requested Kodak’s license, never asked for proof of insurance, never stepped out of his patrol vehicle, and never gave a lawful order in any meaningful way. The defense argued that a brief, consensual encounter had simply ended.
Kodak’s attorney Bradford Cohen celebrated the ruling, saying, “We are glad the court signed the order granting the motion to dismiss. This case was not a fleeing and eluding, and we demonstrated that fact through the video and deposition of the deputy.”
The Kodak Black fleeing charge dismissed outcome represents a significant win for the rapper, who has faced a string of legal battles in recent years. He surrendered to authorities in May after a warrant was issued and pleaded not guilty at the time.
Kodak is not entirely in the clear. He still faces a drug trafficking charge in Orlando stemming from a November 2025 incident where deputies found MDMA in a vehicle. His attorney is fighting to get that case dropped as well, arguing the charge is meritless.
An Orange County judge already released Kodak from all bail and pretrial release conditions in that case after prosecutors failed to file formal charges within the legal deadline. The state attorney’s office has not formally filed charges, though the investigation remains active.
