Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially swung into the top three of the all-time global box office, crossing the $2.4 billion mark. The Tom Holland and Zendaya-led sequel now stands as the third highest-grossing film in history, having surpassed James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water to claim its spot behind the two titans of the box office: Avatar ($2.9B) and Avengers: Endgame ($2.7B).

The film’s historic run began with the biggest opening weekend of all time and has maintained its momentum for six consecutive weeks at number one. With its domestic total now sitting at over $923 million, the film is on the verge of overtaking Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936 million) to become the highest-grossing domestic release in history.

The success cements Brand New Day as the crown jewel of Sony’s Spider-Man franchise, surpassing the $1.9 billion total of its predecessor, Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film’s global run is expected to continue, though catching Endgame would require an additional $300 million, a feat that remains highly unlikely.
