A tragic crime in Frankfort, Illinois, has shocked the community after 38-year-old Corie Walsh was charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the death of her 2-year-old son, Barrett. Court documents filed in Will County revealed disturbing details about the case, including the suspect’s fascination with the high-profile Lindsay Clancy murder trial.

Emergency responders arrived at the family’s home after a 17-year-old neighbor called 911. The teenager found the toddler unresponsive in the basement with a ligature around his neck before attempting CPR. The child was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead from asphyxia.

Disturbing Statements: Prosecutors allege Walsh made alarming statements to officers at the scene, claiming she harmed her son because she believed he was “the devil” and the “anti-Christ”.

Self-Harm Attempt: Walsh was found in an upstairs bathtub with non-life-threatening cuts to her wrists and thighs and was hospitalized before being transferred to jail. Three other children present or arriving home were uninjured.

According to prosecutors, Walsh was deeply invested in the Massachusetts murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, who was accused of strangling her three children during alleged postpartum psychosis. Court filings show Walsh was messaging a group text about the Clancy jury deliberations just hours before her own son was found dead.

Defense counsel stated that Walsh was experiencing a severe psychotic episode at the time of the incident. She remains held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility awaiting further court proceedings.
