The magic is returning to Hogwarts this Christmas. HBO has released a new teaser for its highly anticipated Harry Potter television series, offering the most detailed glimpse yet at the wizarding world reimagined for the small screen.
The eight-episode first season, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is set to premiere on Christmas Day, December 25, 2026.
The teaser introduces the new “golden trio” who will lead the series. The cast includes Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. Stanton, a rising star who previously appeared in the West End production of Matilda the Musical, is no stranger to the role; she is also voicing Hermione in Audible’s upcoming full-cast audio editions.
The teaser showcases several iconic moments from the first book, including Harry’s encounter with the Sorting Hat and his selection for Gryffindor, the beginning of his friendship with Ron and Hermione, and scenes of Quidditch practice.
Viewers also get a glimpse of the series’ adult cast. John Lithgow appears as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid . In a moment that is sure to please longtime fans, Warwick Davis, who appeared in the original film franchise, is returning as Professor Filius Flitwick.
The series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, with Mark Mylod executive producing and directing multiple episodes. J.K. Rowling is also serving as an executive producer alongside original film producer David Heyman.
The new teaser has already generated significant buzz, building anticipation for the series, which promises a more expansive adaptation of Rowling’s books than the original films.
