Chase Stokes is opening up about the physical toll his role on Outer Banks has taken on his body, revealing he has sustained multiple injuries, including three concussions that left him with “short-term memory loss” and difficulty remembering his lines.

The 33-year-old actor, who led the blockbuster Netflix series as John B., detailed his injuries in a new interview with Men’s Health. In addition to the concussions, he said he “popped a shoulder out of place, dislocated my finger, gotten stitches, those types of things” while filming the action-packed show.

The series wrapped its final season earlier this month, but Stokes is still dealing with the effects of the head injuries. He told the magazine that three concussions have left him with lingering symptoms that sometimes make it challenging to work. “It’s led to short-term memory loss, which is really tough when you’re an actor,” he explained. “There are times on set where I’d forget lines I’d said a million times.”

Stokes’ revelations come just days after the Outer Banks cast reunited for the final season premiere on August 15. The show, which first premiered in 2020, quickly became one of Netflix’s most popular series. In an emotional interview with Men’s Health, he said the show has been “one of the biggest gifts of my life” and is more than “just a television show” to him.
