Television personality and executive producer Simon Cowell is set to step away from America’s Got Talent for a couple of weeks to undergo a routine medical procedure. Reports indicate the 66-year-old talent judge is scheduled for back surgery.
The Simon Cowell routine back surgery missing Americas Got Talent news comes as sources clarify the operation is routine and not linked to a new medical emergency. Cowell previously underwent extensive back surgery following a serious electric-bike accident at his home in 2020.
“We’re told this is a routine procedure and there is no indication of a new major health crisis.”
Production has not yet announced whether a guest judge will fill Cowell’s seat alongside Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara during his temporary absence. Cowell is expected to return to the judge’s table following a brief recovery period.
