Priyanka Chopra made a striking appearance in New York City yesterday for the premiere of her documentary, The Cycle of Love. The actress and executive producer arrived at the event in a stunning architectural black gown from A.W.A.K.E. Mode, which featured dramatic sculpted fabric layers running down the front that added a dramatic edge to the classic silhouette.
The film, which is set for release on August 28, follows the incredible true story of Indian artist PK Mahanandia, who cycled 6,000 miles from India to Sweden in the 1970s to reunite with the woman he loved. The documentary also explores the caste discrimination he faced in India.
At the premiere, Priyanka shared how instantly drawn she was to the story when she heard it for the first time. “When I first heard the story of the extraordinary journey of PK Mahanandia riding a cycle across continents for love, I was immediately stunned,” she said. “It’s one of those rare, almost unbelievable true stories that stays with you long after you hear it.”
The actress also joked that her husband, Nick Jonas, “had it way easier” when it came to finding love compared to Mahanandia, who traveled thousands of miles by bicycle.
