Cardi B’s New York City video shoot took an unexpected turn Monday when a photographer ended up in handcuffs. The 70-year-old photographer, identified as Steven Sands, was detained by NYPD after a confrontation with security on the streets of Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

Law enforcement sources say Sands bypassed police barriers and ignored orders from Cardi’s staff and police officers, leading to a criminal court summons for disorderly conduct. Video posted to Instagram showed Sands being handcuffed next to a patrol car, though police say he was later released without being arrested.

But Sands tells a different story. He claims he arrived at the shoot before Cardi B and was initially given instructions by a security guard. When the guard moved him behind equipment, blocking his shot, Sands asked to move 10 feet to an open area. When the guard refused, citing Cardi’s preferences, Sands fired back, “I don’t mean to be rude, but I don’t care what Cardi wants”. That’s when the situation escalated, leading to police intervention.
