Chris Brown is fighting to protect his tour earnings from a nearly $13 million judgment awarded to his former housekeeper, Maria Avila. Brown has filed court docs objecting to Avila’s efforts to have all of his present and future income, including his tour money and royalties, assigned to her to satisfy the debt from the 2020 dog attack case.
Avila was awarded the massive judgment after a jury sided with her in her lawsuit against Brown over a 2020 dog attack at his Los Angeles mansion. She claimed the dog viciously attacked her, causing severe injuries. Brown denied wrongdoing and argued Avila provoked the dog, but the jury ruled in her favor.
In his new filing, Brown argues Avila’s attempt to seize all of his current and future income is too broad and exceeds what she can legally collect. The singer claims the effort to grab his tour profits and royalties goes well beyond what the law allows. Avila previously claimed Brown had made no effort to satisfy the judgment, prompting her collection efforts.
Brown is currently in the middle of a nationwide stadium tour with Usher, The R&B Tour, which includes 33 performances from June through December. The tour represents his most lucrative current income stream, making it a prime target for collection.
