The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series cast is celebrating some real-life romance! Actors Frankie A. Rodriguez and Joe Serafini, who won hearts as on-screen couple Carlos and Seb, are officially engaged.
The pair took to Instagram on Friday, August 7, to share the happy news. Frankie simply captioned their post with “engaged!” alongside a ring, heart, and champagne glass emoji. Their co-stars were quick to celebrate, with Sofia Wylie writing “SCREAMINGGGG” and series creator Tim Federle commenting “Nature is healing”.
Frankie, 27, and Joe, 28, met while filming the Disney+ series in 2019 and confirmed their off-screen relationship in 2021. Their on-screen characters, Carlos and Seb, made history as the franchise’s first openly gay couple, a milestone that has held deep significance for both actors.
Reflecting on their on-screen romance, Joe told Pride, “It’s hard to wrap your head around, even four years into these characters, just the power of their existence on the screen to people watching at home”. The couple’s journey from reel to real has been a fan-favorite love story, and now they’re writing their next chapter together.
