Netflix has unveiled a striking first look at the fourth season of Ryan Murphy’s hit true crime anthology. Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story premieres September 17, 2026, and it’s the first installment to center on a woman accused of murder.
Leading the cast is Ella Beatty, daughter of Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, as Lizzie Borden. The ensemble is stacked with talent: Charlie Hunnam plays Lizzie’s father, Andrew; Rebecca Hall plays her stepmother, Abby; Vicky Krieps plays maid Bridget Sullivan; Billie Lourd plays Lizzie’s sister, Emma; and Sarah Paulson appears as notorious serial killer Aileen Wuornos. The eight-episode season reimagines the infamous 1892 axe murders of Andrew and Abby Borden in Fall River, Massachusetts. Lizzie was acquitted, but the case became a national obsession. Co-creator Ian Brennan says the season explores a central theme of the anthology: “Are monsters made or born?”
