Following the conclusion of the live-action trilogy, Sony Pictures Animation is officially taking the lethal protector in a new direction with a standalone animated Venom feature film.
The studio has tapped filmmaking duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein (Final Destination: Bloodlines, Freaks) to direct the project, marking the character’s first solo animated big-screen outing.
While story details remain under wraps, the project signals a creative expansion for Sony’s Marvel slate alongside its acclaimed Spider-Verse franchise.
Creative Leadership: Directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein are helming the project, coming off their critical and commercial horror hit Final Destination: Bloodlines.
Tom Hardy’s Involvement: Franchise star Tom Hardy is attached as a producer alongside long-time producers Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach. It has not been formally confirmed whether Hardy will voice Eddie Brock or the symbiote.
Development Phase: Sony has opened a writers’ room to craft the script and map out the narrative direction.
With the animated project still in early development, Sony continues to explore fresh avenues for its comic book properties.
