A quiet Michigan community is in mourning after law enforcement officials confirmed that a devastating home fire in Grand Haven Township was the result of a horrific murder-suicide.
According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, 47-year-old Kristopher “Kris” Karolkiewicz fatally shot his 39-year-old wife, Amanda “Mandy” Karolkiewicz, and their six children—aged 5 to 15—before turning the gun on himself.
Emergency crews originally responded to reports of a structure fire on Friday, July 24, 2026. Upon extinguishing the flames, firefighters made the grim discovery of eight deceased family members along with the family’s pets.
Autopsy Findings: Forensic autopsies conducted by medical examiners determined that all eight individuals died from gunshot wounds prior to the fire.
