Damning evidence presented during day four of singer D4vd’s (David Anthony Burke) preliminary hearing in Los Angeles revealed that 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez had gotten pregnant and had an abortion more than a year before her death.
The revelation came as prosecutors detailed the timeline of the illicit relationship between the 21-year-old pop star and the young victim, presenting iCloud text exchanges and forensic evidence to support their claims.
According to court testimony from Los Angeles police detectives, text messages pulled from Burke’s iCloud account show that in January 2024, when Rivas Hernandez was 13 years old, the pair discussed her pregnancy and subsequent abortion.
“Neither of us are capable of watching and taking care of the baby,” Rivas Hernandez texted Burke at the time. “It’s for the best, no?”
Later messages presented in court highlighted the emotional toll the decision took on the teenager. In an August 2024 text, Rivas Hernandez wrote to Burke: “I killed my kid for you… I don’t like talking about it cause it gets me really upset but I’d do anything to have it back.”
Prosecutors claim Burke sexually abused Rivas Hernandez starting when she was 13 and he was 18, before fatally stabbing her in April 2025 to prevent her from exposing their relationship as his music career exploded.
Her decomposed remains were later discovered in September 2025 inside the front trunk of a Tesla registered to Burke. Additional testimony from LAPD criminalists revealed that DNA matching Rivas Hernandez was found in bloodstains across Burke’s garage floor, rowing machine, and storage bags.
Burke has pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder, child sexual abuse, and human remains mutilation. The preliminary hearing will conclude early next week, where the judge will rule if there is sufficient evidence for Burke to stand trial.
